Al-Yurea- Arrived in Khartoum on Tuesday for a two-day official visit to support the civil transition.
The British Embassy in Khartoum said in a press release that Moazzam Malik the Director of Africa Affairs will meet with several Sudanese political leaders and members of civil society organizations, media, youth, and international organizations to understand the current economic and political challenges
He added that the British official “will welcome the strong consensus that has been showed through the UNAMITS consultations among a wide range of Sudanese stakeholders on a number of key issues and principles.”
He stressed the UK’s support for a civilian-led democratic transition.
In a comment posted in his Twitter account he said:” Good to be in Khartoum again,12 months after my last visit. The UK stand fully behind the Sudanese people’s demands for a democratic transition.”
On Monday, the UN mission in Sudan published the results of more than a month of consultations with Sudanese parties as part of efforts to resolve the country’s current political crisis.
“The results of its consultations may be disappointing to those expecting a solution from the United Nations, but the aim of this process remains to support a Sudanese national solution to emerge from the current political crisis to achieve the objectives of their revolution,” It said.
The UN mission, headed by German Volker Beatrice, revealed that it had heard the views of the Sudanese during 110 meetings with the participation of 800 people and had received 80 written proposals to resolve the crisis in the country.
The UN mission is to move to another stage of consultations in a Sudanese-led process to resolve the political crisis, it announced yesterday.
