Security force raids the headquarters of the commission of inquiry into the “massacre of the sit-in of the General Command”

Al-Yurae- Khartoum– According to a press circular attributed to the chairman of the committee Nabil Adeeb, on Monday, the security force that took over the headquarters of the committee allowed civilian authorities to enter the headquarters of the committee and start maintenance work inside the headquarters.

It also ordered the evacuation of the buildings occupied by the Commission’s guard staff and handed them over to the civil authority concerned and prevented the staff of the Commission from entering and receiving any equipment belonging to the Commission.

On June 3, 2019, joint forces dispersed a peaceful sit-in of Sudanese rebels in front of the Sudanese army’s headquarters in Khartoum.

The “deadly” dispersal of the sit-in resulted in the death, injury and loss of hundreds during the military junta’s takeover of Sudan.

The country’s civil government subsequently set up a commission to investigate the circumstances of the incident to find and prosecute the perpetrators.

The chairman’s circular indicated that the Finance Ministry’s Recovered Funds Committee had informed the Committee of Inquiry into the dispersal of the general leadership sit-in last December, with a letter allowing the Political Parties Affairs Committee to use the non-independent part of the committee’s headquarters.

The circular confirmed the commission of inquiry’s rejection of the request because of the secrecy of the Commission’s work, which required that it be independent alone in the building in which it operated.

He explained that Last December, the Finance Ministry’s Recovered Funds Committee reported to the Independent National Commission of Inquiry into violations that accompanied the dispersal of the sit-in in front of the leadership on June 3, 2019, with a letter allowing the Political Parties Affairs Committee to use the non-independent part of the commission’s headquarters, and Nabil Adib’s committee rejected this because of the committee’s secret work requiring it to be independent alone in the building in which it operates.
“The prime minister’s office, which was in office at the time in accordance with the November agreement, stopped this attempt, but the committee was surprised by the repeated attempt last month, and after we notified the Secretary-General of Cabinet Affairs of our objection to this, he thanked the Committee on the Ministry of Finance that it could not respond to its request and it ended there.”
