British ambassador to Khartoum expresses concern over food security situation faced by 11.7 million Sudanese

Published:

Al-Yurae- British Ambassador to Khartoum Giles Lever on the occasion of World Food Day expressed concern about the food security situation currently faced by 11.7 million Sudanese.
The ambassador recalled that the UK had provided £100 million in urgent food assistance through the World Food Programme (WFP) in the past four years.
But he added that a sustainable solution to food security would require economic and political stability in Sudan.
For decades, the UK has been the main donor to cover food shortages in camps for displaced people in Sudan’s conflict zones through the World Food Programme (WFP).
