Al-Burhan, Kiir witness signing of the updated Juba Peace Agreement’s

Juba-(SUNA) – President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council (TSC) Gen. Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan and President of the Republic of South Sudan Salva Kiir Mayardit witnessed on Sunday the signing of the updated matrix of Juba Sudan Peace Agreement.

Where the TSC President Council signed as a witness and the President of the Republic of South Sudan signed as a guarantor of the agreement. The Head of the Government Delegation and TSC member Gen. Shams-al-Din Kabbashi signed on behalf of the Sudanese government and the heads and leaders of organizations and movements signed on behalf of the parties to the peace process. The representatives of some countries was also signed as guarantor and witness to the Juba Peace Agreement for Sudan.

 

Addressing the ceremony, the TSC President affirmed that peace represents the core issue for Sudan and occupies the forefront of the Sudanese state’s top priorities and constitutes a key factor in security and development issues in the country.

 

Al-Burhan announced the government’s commitment to work on implementing the matrix with its new timings to constitute a strong impetus to the implementation of the remaining provisions of the agreement, praising the efforts of the State of South Sudan and the guarantor countries of the Juba Agreement in achieving peace in Sudan.

 

Al-Burhan pointed out that the two countries decided to move their relations to wider spaces through the implementation of cooperation agreements and the application of the Four Freedoms Agreement, stressing Sudan’s keenness during its presidency of the current session of the IGAD Organization to implement the revitalized South Sudan Peace Agreement.

 

For his part, the President of the Republic of South Sudan Salva Kiir Mayardit underlined that peace in Sudan is an extension of peace in southern Sudan, adding that the outcome of the workshop on the evaluation of the implementation of Juba Peace Agreement for Sudan aims to overcome obstacles and challenges.

 

Salva Kiir called on the international community to support the implementation of the Juba Agreement for Peace in Sudan, urging the head of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North Abdul-Aziz Al-Hilu, and the head of the Sudan Liberation Movement Abdel-Wahid Muhammad Nour to join the peace process so that peace in Sudan is complete, calling on the Sudanese to seize the opportunity to achieve peace through unity of class and word.

 

Meanwhile, the representatives of the organizations and movements that signed the Juba Peace Agreement for Sudan, UNITAMS, IGAD, and the Troika countries, along with representatives of the countries of Chad and Egypt, addressed the celebration, stressing the importance of peace and commitment to its implementation according to the specified schedules.
