The “Falcons of Jediane” team arrives in Benghazi amidst a warm reception

Benghazi – (SUNA) – The Sudanese national football team “Falcons of Jediane” arrived yesterday, Saturday, March 15, at Benina Airport in Benghazi via EgyptAir, in preparation for the fifth and sixth rounds of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, scheduled for March 22 and 25, 2025.

The team was received at Benghazi Airport by the Consul General of the Republic of Sudan, Mr. Abdel Rahman Mohammed Rahmatallah, along with members of the Consulate General and members of the National Sports Association.

In his speech, the Consul General welcomed the national team, praising the importance of the upcoming two matches in the qualifiers against the teams of Senegal and South Sudan. The Consul General said that the “Falcons of Jediane” have achieved a great accomplishment by qualifying for the finals, and expressed his hope that the team would qualify for the 2026 World Cup in America, Canada, and Mexico.

The Consul General also extended a message of appreciation to Field Marshal Khalifa Belqasim Haftar, the General Commander of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces, and Lieutenant General Khairy Al-Tamimi, the Secretary-General of the General Command of the Armed Forces.

He praised the role of the Libyan Football Federation and the Military Sports Federation in providing full support to the Sudanese team, saying: “What unites us with our Libyan brothers is greater than just football; they are true brothers who deserve all thanks and appreciation
