The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in an official statement issued yesterday, Tuesday, July 29, 2025, strongly rejected the recognition of the so-called “Founding Government” announced by the Rapid Support Forces. It considered this step a direct threat to Sudan’s unity and legitimacy, and an exacerbation of the ongoing crisis that has lasted for more than a year.
Saudi Position:
-
The formation of a government outside the framework of international legitimacy is a serious escalation that hinders political resolution efforts.
-
Saudi Arabia affirms its full support for the Transitional Sovereignty Council as the legitimate representative of the Sudanese state.
-
It called on all parties to respect state institutions and to halt unilateral measures that further complicate the field situation.
Call for Political Solution:
-
The Kingdom stressed the importance of adhering to the political resolution path sponsored by the Tri- and Quadripartite Mechanisms.
-
It affirmed that any attempts to impose facts on the ground by force or to establish parallel governments would only lead to further chaos and division.
Ongoing Saudi Commitment:
-
Saudi Arabia continues to support efforts to ceasefire, resume inclusive political dialogue, and open humanitarian corridors.
-
The Kingdom is working in coordination with the United Nations, the African Union, and Sudan’s partners to advance the peace process.
The statement concluded by emphasizing the necessity of prioritizing wisdom and rejecting the exploitation of the situation for narrow political gains, in order to preserve Sudan’s stability and the future of its people.
