Sudan Sets Christmas Breaks: Nationwide Holiday on Dec. 25, Eastern Observance in January

Port Sudan (SUNA) – Sudan’s Cabinet General Secretariat announced official Christmas holidays on Thursday, designating December 25, 2025, as a nationwide public holiday.

For Western Christian denominations, the holiday period runs from Wednesday, December 24, to Friday, December 26, 2025. December 25 will be observed as an official holiday across the country.

For Eastern Christian denominations, the break begins Tuesday, January 6, 2026, and ends Thursday, January 8, 2026. Note that employees who take more than one day off on December 24, 2025, are excluded from the January holiday entitlement.
