Coordination of IDPs in Darfur region announces the collapse of the situation in camps

The Coordination of Displaced Persons in the Darfur region in western Sudan announced the collapse of the humanitarian, health and educational situation in the displacement camps in the region with the continuation of the siege imposed on citizens in all cities of the country, especially Darfur.

Coordination spokesman Adam Rijal revealed in a press statement that one of the parties to the conflict has begun imposing a siege on the city of El Fasher in North Darfur state in western Sudan.

The new situation is causing “the denial of humanitarian aid into the city, leaving the population in displacement camps and the city at risk of death and death by extreme hunger or by weapons”, the statement said.

Malnutrition victims

Men announced the death of 20 displaced people in the “Rontas” camp for displaced people in Central Darfur state from 20 to 30 April due to malnutrition, including 10 children and women.

The humanitarian situation in Kalma camp for displaced people in South Darfur is worsening and difficult due to the lack of food with the specter of famine, acute malnutrition and lack of medicine, he said.

Men called on the international community, the United States and Sudan’s neighboring countries to move beyond the stage of declarations and create other alternatives towards Sudanese society, especially in Darfur, and to pressure the parties to the war to abandon the use of food and medicine as a weapon to starve society.
